Once you’ve started grasping the basic blackjack strategy you can move onto more complex strategies to improve your game. The beginner strategy which we talked about in a previous article should allow you to at least break even in the long run, but if you want to make profits more consistently then you need to adapt a new strategy. Card counting is the best way to do this and you need to do it in order to step your game up.

A lot of people become confused about card counting and they assume that they need to be able to remember every card dealt out. This is far from the truth though, instead each card has a value of either +1, 0 or -1 and you keep a count in your hand. The value of each card is as followed, make sure you remember these or else your count is going to be wrong when you try it out.

2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 = +1

7, 8 and 9 = 0

10 and Ace = -1

Every time the deck is shuffled you begin your count at 0 and then for every card dealt you need to add or subtract the value of that card. In the case of 7’s, 8’s and 9’s you’d just stay at the same count you’re at as there value is worth 0 in this system.

The idea is to bet higher when the deck is hot and to lower your bets when the deck is cold. The house always starts each hand at about a .5% favorite and in order to erase that advantage you need a strategy. For every +3 you have in your count it roughly equates a 1% advantage in your favor. This isn’t a huge advantage, but it’s always nice knowing that you can have the advantage rather then the casino having the advantage.

You need to make sure that you don’t make it look like you’re counting cards or else you might be in trouble. The casinos frown upon this behavior and it could be punishable by banning you from casinos or even worse so make sure you keep it secretive. Also when the deck is hot don’t throw out a massive bet that seems strange compared to the rest of your bets. If you do this it will be a signal that you’ve been counting cards and you could end up being confronted.

This is the best blackjack online strategy to follow as you progress in your blackjack career and although there are a lot of so called blackjack systems out there none really work. The house will always have the advantage unless you count the cards using a system like the one mentioned above. There is no other way for a player to erase the advantage that the casino has while playing against you. Also take note that the advantage you’re gaining is very minuscule and it doesn’t mean you’re going to win the hand. There are still a lot of variables that can’t be determined which means although you’ve created the advantage in your favor it doesn’t guarantee a win.
